Premium Lawn Turf

About the Turf:- =Each roll of turf covers 1m2

The quality of the Premium Lawn Turf is simply outstanding.  Grown from the very best STRI seeds on the fabulous free draining Black Sandy Soil of Lincolnshire the turf is one of the very best on the market.  Despite the finer leaves the turf is durable, disease resistant and requires only low maintenance.  Regular cutting and feeding will keep the turf in sublime condition (we now sell the fertiliser to help you do this).

The pictures on the right show how fabulous the turf looks no matter what the size of the garden.

Supply

Minimum amount for delivery is 20 rolls plus.  Please contact the office for a price to your area.  We love talking "Turf" and Professional, friendly advice is always available. If you prefer to speak to someone in person, give us a call.

Before Ordering:-

  • Please ensure you accurately measure your garden.  If your unsure how to calculate what you need, please contact the office;

  • Allow 5% extra for cuts or awkward shaped gardens;

  • Ensure you have an adequate watering system in place.  Using a hose pipe with a hand held sprinkler is not sufficient.  An oscillating sprinkler should be used to ensure even watering

  • Do not put fertilser onto the ground before laying the turf, it has been fed with essential nutrients before being cut.

  • Do not lay sand of any description as a base for laying the turf on.  Turf is grown on soil and simply needs putting back onto a quality top soil.  If you have clay soil, or bad drainage, you can dig in or rotovate sand to aid the drainage.  Sand has no nutrients in it and will be detrimental to the turf.

 Following Delivery of the Turf:-

  • Ensure the turf is laid as soon as possible following delivery, preferably the same day

  • Once the turf is laid, it will need to be watered considerably, especially in hot conditions.  Water early morning and early evening but avoid the blistering midday sun as this will course the turf to scorch

  • Remember the water has to get through the grass, thatch (roots) and soil below.  In hot conditions, the ground below will soon pull the moisture away from the turf

  • Turf only shrinks for one reason - lack of water.  If you see this start to happen, water well, paying particular attention to the joints of the turf

  • Keep off the turf once it is laid as walking on it will create divots in the grounds which cause un eveness.  If you need to walk on it, use boards - we recommend up to 2 weeks before walking on it

  • Keep animals off newly laid turf.  Alkaline from cats and dogs will damage the turf

  • Once the turf has taken - you can check this by trying to turn a corner of the turf over, if it doesn't lift you know that it has taken

  • When cutting newly laid turf, put your mower on a high setting and trim the lawn, scalping the lawn will kill it (new blades of grass are constantly coming through, scalping the turf will kill them permanentely).  It is best to keep the grass at 25mm or 1".  This will also help it to retain moisture.

Why you can't order online

It's simple - Turf is not a product you buy everyday. Working closely with our customers to understand their needs gives not only confidence in the product they are buying but often saves costly mistakes in over/under ordering.

Simple recommendations can save you considerable amounts of money.

Excellent customer service is key to the success of our business.  Automated systems cannot give that level of service.

GravelGirlWorld turf should not be compared to economy priced turf which can be sold at a much lesser cost as it's grown from cheaper seeds and not of a guaranteed quality.  Neither should it be compared to "headland" turf which is taken from the edges of the field or mistaken for meadow turf.

Cheaper rolls of turf may look good when first laid, but it is in the following weeks and months when the strength of the seeds really count. GravelGirlWorld turf is extremely durable and grown for its quality & strength and represents excellent value for money.
